What is a record? Why do I need naming conventions? What is the difference between unstructured and structured content and how do I manage it? Why do I need a retention schedule? How do I manage email and other electronic information? These are just some of the many questions that are asked of records professionals on a regular basis. Come and hear our speaker go over the basics of records and information management. If you are already familiar with the basics, come and get a refresher that will help you explain the concepts to others and increase your support.

Donna Read has over 20 years’ experience in the records and information profession. She has managed a records program in the private sector and spent 14 years working for the Federal government at the National Archives and Records Administration as a Senior Records Analyst. In her role at NARA she provided hands on support and consulting services to Federal agencies throughout the government. She now has a RIM consulting business, Read Incorporated, where she offers these same services to everyone.
Donna is a CRM (Certified Records Manager), a CDIA+ (Certified Document Imaging Architect), an AIIM Electronic Records Management Specialist and AIIM Enterprise Content Management Practitioner, and she has a B.A. in Business Management. She currently serves as the President of the Board of the Florida Gulf Coast ARMA Chapter, and is a member of the SFA (Society of Florida Archivist), FRMA (Florida Records Management Association), ARMA (Association of Records Managers and Administrators).
